South Stormont Sports Hall of Fame

Shane Cleary is an Ingleside resident who has competed in Jiu Jitsu since May of 2004. He currently has a purple belt and is a member of the Black Belt Club. Shane has demonstrated a high degree of proficiency in Martial Arts and in particular, grappling skills. He has shown leadership in his club by assisting other students in the learning of these skills. Shane has participated in numerous out of club seminars and has competed in several Martial Arts competitions, from local tournaments to the Canadian Title Championships and even the World Championship level. Shane is hoping to attend a World Training Seminar and competition in May of 2008 that will take place in France.

At the World championships in Ottawa in 2006, Shane placed 3rd in both Sport Jiu Jitsu and Grappling. In 2005 and 2006, Shane placed in the top three in Grappling and Sport Jiu Jitsu at the Canadian Championships ion Hamilton. Shane has amassed a number of medals at out of club competitions throughout Ontario.
