Rylan Iwachniuk

Rylan has just finished his Grade 10 year at Tagwi Secondary School. In Grade 9 Rylan was the first student in Tagwi’s history to win an East Regionals Championship by placing first in an event at the East Regionals Track and Field Meet. He then qualified for OFSAA where he finished ninth in the province in discus. In Grade 10 Rylan was the Jr Male Athlete of the Year, Cross Country MVP and Jr Boys Basketball MVP.
Rylan’s first love is hockey. In 2016 Rylan played for the Seaway Valley Minor Bantam AA team that won the OEMHL championship. That same year, as a 14 year old, Rylan was affiliated with the Cornwall Colts Midget AAA U18 hockey team that won the HEO championships and he travelled to Sudbury to play in the provincials with the team. Last summer Rylan was drafted 15th overall by the Cornwall Colts Jr A hockey club. In the 2017-18 season he played with the Cornwall Colts Midget U18 AAA team and earned a spot on the HEO all-star team that played in the OHL Gold Cup. This summer he was invited to an elite men’s NCAA showcase camp in Toronto where he was able to showcase his skills for NCAA Division 1 schools and NHL scouts.
Rylan is a soccer and ball hockey referee for the Township of South Stormont and volunteers at the Lancer basketball camp each summer.
