Ron Thompson
Coach, Volunteer

For nearly 30 years, Ron Thompson has been actively involved in a variety of capacities with the South Stormont Minor Hockey Association, the Cornwall/Seaway Valley Minor Hockey Association, the Ottawa District Association, and the Eastern Ontario Jr. C Hockey League.

Ron began coaching in 1981 when his son began playing hockey, and coached at various levels until 1993. His first major success as a coach came in the 1989-90 season, when he coached the South Stormont travelling PeeWee Flyers to a league championship. In 1995, he took the position of head coach of the new Long Sault Vipers of the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League. In the team's inaugural season, not only was he asked to coach at the All-Star game, but he was also the EOJCHL Coach of the Year Award, and the 3M Coaching Recognition Award.

Ron has served as Vice-president of the EOJCHL for 4 years, before becoming acting league president in 2004. He's been a Director at Large for the ODHA, a special advisor to the EOJCHL and most recently served as a facilitator for the ODHA Summit Meetings.
