Kohlin is a student at St. Joseph Secondary School in Cornwall Ontario. Although Kohlin is well recognized for basketball and football in Eastern Ontario, he has also excelled in track and field and volleyball for his school. He was MVP on his volleyball team in 2007-2008 and he was a member of the SD&G Senior "AAA" Boys' Volleyball team in 2009-2010. In his first two years of high school he qualified for Eastern Ontario track and field championship in high jump.
As one the most productive youth football players in SD&G, Kohlin was named captain for both his high school and Cornwall Wildcats teams, and was named MVP on five different occasions as part of championship teams.
Kohlin started playing basketball in 1999 and his accomplishments are very indicative of his skills. He helped St Joes' to four straight SD&G Championships, three straight EOSSAA silver medals and three straight All Ontario Appearances and was the MVP of the SD&G All Star game. He has also played for the Cornwall Lions, winning tournament MVP and All Star awards and was a member of the 2007 All Ontario Championship team. Today, Kohlin plays for a team out of Kingston that is associated with Queen's University, he hopes to attend and play basketball at the school in the fall of 2011.
