Jesse Winchester was born in Cornwall, but has lived most of his life in Long Sault, where he began his hockey career in the South Stormont Minor Hockey Association. After two years with the Traveling Novice Selects, he moved to the Seaway Valley Rapids AA Association, where he played from Atom through to Major Bantam.
After a year with the Cornwall Royals Midget A Traveling Team, he played for the Junior 'B' Winchester Hawks, where he finished second in league scoring and won the league's Rookie of the Year Award. For the next three years, he played for the Cornwall Colts Junior A Club. In his final year, as captain of the Colts, he led the league in assists and was named to the First Team All-Star Team.
Following his junior career, Jesse was offered a full hockey scholarship to play for the Raiders at Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. In his four years at Colgate, the team went to the ECAC finals three times and to the Eastern Championships once. In his final year at Colgate, he was team captain, and again led the league in assists.
After his final game as a Colgate Raider, Jesse signed a contract with the Ottawa Senators. Though ineligible to play in the playoffs, Jesse did suit up for his first regular season NHL game against the Bruins in Boston. He signed a two year contract with the Senators this past May, and will be attending the Senators training camp in September.
