George Dupau was a prolific athlete in his years at Osnabruck District High School. He excelled in a host of high school sports, particularly basketball, and was a member of teams that won 2 EOSSA "B" championships. He was Jr. Boys MVP in 1960, and Sr. Boys MVP in 1962 on a team that went undefeated. At the same time, he was coaching the girl's basketball team to the school's first-ever girls basketball championship.
During high school and after, he was considered to be one of the area's finest fastball players. He played on a team that won the All-Ontario Jr. B Championship in 1959. From high school through to 1974, he was voted an All-Star in each league he played in - the Dundas League and the North End Fastball League. He played on 5 North End League championship teams, and twice played on teams that claimed the Kemptville Sr. A Fastball Tournament. He also played a couple of seasons for Interprovincial Paving in the Hull Sr. A Commercial League.
