Gayle Sinfield grew up in the village of Ingleside along the shores of St. Lawrence River. As a young girl during the summer months most days would be spent at Farran Beach swimming. This is where Gayle‘s love for the sport started. After working her way up through the levels of swimming she completed Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Trainer, LifeSaving Society’s Examiner and National Lifeguard certification. Upon Graduating from St Lawrence College in 1976 she acquired the position of Aquatic Instructor working for the City of Cornwall. Gayle had a passion for Synchronized Swimming where she was instrumental in developing and coaching the first Synchronized swimming program known as The Cornwall Sea Queens.
Throughout her 30 year career she received numerous Awards and Citations including the Cornwall Lions Club Swimmer of the Year Award in 1984. The Red Cross summer consultant service award. Life Saving Society’s Service Medal in 1997, bar to the service medal in 2000, and Service Cross in 2004.
Her greatest achievement was receiving the Life Saving Society of Canada’s Water Smart award in 1996 for outstanding contribution of Public Education for Cornwall and the surrounding region.
