Eric MacDonald moved to Cornwall in 1957 and, when he and his wife decided to start a family, they relocated to South Stormont, where he started playing broomball in 1968 and still plays today - a sports career that has spanned 46 years. He has played in several different leagues over the years, including the Seaway Valley Broomball League, Industrial Broomball League, JOC Broomball League, and the Dominion Textile (Long Sault) Broomball League, winning several league and playoff championship, and has received numerous individual awards for Top Scorer, MVP, Sportsmanship, Coaching, and Dedication.
Eric has participated in numerous broomball tournaments throughout Ontario, Quebec, and the US, receiving individual awards for Top Scorer and MVP along the way. He has played for dominant teams such as the Seaway Valley All-Stars, B&M Bulls, Bedard Energy, and currently the Maxville Predators, to name a few. Eric has competed in both the Regional and Provincial Broomball Championships, most recently winning the silver medal with the Maxville Predators when they hosted the 2013 Regional Championships in Cornwall. As a member of that same team, he has participated in three World Broomball Championships, winning the bronze medal in Burnaby, BC (2008) and in Innsbruck, Austria (2010), and the Challenge Cup silver in Ottawa (2012). In Ottawa, he also received the Top Coach Award, and was selected for the All-Star team.
Eric is currently preparing for November's 2014 World Broomball Championships in Tomakomai, Japan.
