He first started breeding Standardbred race horses in Stormont in 1983-84. All foals born and raised at his farm, Stormont Meadows, have the prefix “Stormont” in their names when registered with Standardbred Canada.  Stormont Meadows horses have raced in the Ontario, Quebec, New York, and New Jersey Sire Stakes, as well as many individual major invitational staked races, and Eric Baker has been recognized by his peers as a leading Standardbred breeder.
