Dale Swerdfeger
Athlete - Hockey/Fastball
Inducted - 2016
In 2016, Dale played at the CARHA HOCKEY WORLD CUP in Windsor, ON with the Cornwall Seaway Blades, and he quickly became a driving force on the blueline. The Blades eventually won in overtime in the 60 & Over Division by outlasting a Swedish team from Hammarby 1-0. Late in regulation time, though, the Blades survived not one, but two five-on-three penalties. With several face-offs in the Blades’ end, Dale got control of the puck and sent it the length of the ice numerous times, taking precious seconds off the clock. The Swedish team could hardly get possession, which must have been very frustrating. The Blades were able to hold them off until the end of regulation, and at 1:24 of overtime, scored the winning goal to capture the WORLD CUP. Dale’s contribution to the victory was immense, to say the least.
